Tonight was a bit better than last night. Some clear standouts and some blahs. Mostly the blahs were because of weird song choices and arrangements. BTW, did you think the judges (Randy) were harder on the girls than the guys? i thought so
Chelsea Sorrell- Blah. NEVER try to sing an American Idol’s single, especially Carrie Underwood. It just never works IMO. Her vocals were weak and it was just bad.
Erika Van Pelt- Good not great. Satisfactory but not out of this world. Safe song choice of What About Love
Jen Hirsh- one of my favorites since the auditions and she did a solid performance. The best bestest? no but still solid
Brielle Von Hugel- I don’t like her and I didn’t like this. I thought it was a weird song to sing tonight when you’re trying to get into the main competition.
Hallie Day- slightly disappointing. she seemed uptight tonight to me for some reason. i just wanted her to belt it out but she seemed like she was nervous
Skylar Laine- I like her. She’s likable and she tried really hard. She was one of the more memorable ones. She really tried to rock out and A for effort
Baylie Brown- what a disappointment. It was really pitchy and i can tell she was nervous. She was the pretty blonde girl that couldn’t deliver tonight
Hollie Cavanagh- Didn’t know who she was but she seems very nice and likable. Safe song choice but she did a great job. She has a very natural look about her that i like
Haley Johnson- she ruined one of my favorite Eurythmics songs. it was scary to listen and watch
Shannon Magrane- wow she’s tall. That’s a good thing she’s memorable. She’s going to appeal to the Southern demographics. She’s got that Southern Christian thing going on and I kinda like that
Jessia Sanchez- i was a little iffy about her before but she was clearly the best of the night. Wow. Definitely safe
Elise Testone- she had to deliver after Jessica. Not a big fan of her but she did a pretty good performance overall and one of the best tonight
So my favorites are Jessica, Hollie, Skylar, and Jen
For who’s safe for sure, Jessica and Skylar for sure. Hollie and Elise probably
let me just state for the record that if you’re Black and you sing a Gospel-ish song, you’ll get a standing ovation and you’ll be praised to high heavens. get the picture?
I honestly thought tonight was kinda a blah
Reed Grimm- his arrangement of Moves Like Jagger disappointed me. These kind of jazz singers never make it big after Idol. Big disappointment for me
Adam Brock- I honestly can’t remember what he sounded like. Kinda forgettable for me and I thought it was old school
Deandre Brackensick- one of my least favorite of the night. Big disappointment also. His voice was so high that I didn’t even know what it was supposed to sound like. Nice hair though
Colton Dixon- one of the more memorable ones. I knew he was going to make it to the Top 12 this year. I liked it and I like him.
Jeremy Rosado- I LOVE this song, Gravity by Sara Bareilles. Wrong pick for tonight. If he made it this week, he should have saved it for later.
Aaron Marcellus- He dressed like a modern Jackson 5 and sang Jackson 5. Nice vocals but not current for me
Chase Likens- I like him. I’m a sucker for country music because I’m from Texas and I like him. Personality is questionable though but I like him
Creighton Fraker- Another weird song selection for me. I hoped he was gonna sing David Bowie or something. He’s weird and likable but not a great song choice for tonight
Phillip Phillips- one of the most trending topics on twitter tonight. I like him and I think he’s memorable. I think he’s definitely safe. Not my favorite of the night but i remember him and that’s important
Eben Franckewitz- clearly the worst of the night. First of all, NEVER sing Adele on this show. And it showed that maybe he’s too young and needs more time to develop as a singer. Just pitchy all over the place and not consistent at all. He’s the epitome of pretty boy on AI that can’t sing
Heejun Han- I’m over his cheesy song selections. Please sing something modern for once
Joshua Ledet- read my comments on Aaron and copy paste
Jermaine Jones- very unique and different. He’s likable but honestly i think he’d be better off on America’s Got Talent.
so i think for sure who’s safe are Colton and Phillip. I guess you can throw in Joshua as safe as well. But other than that, a pretty blah night tbh
