Every few months, “Glee” uncorks a decent, carefully arced episode in which the characters all behave consistently, the songs all relate well to a broader theme and Mr. Schuester is nowhere to be seen. I think 2011 probably included three or four of those episodes. Unfortunately, those episodes are enough to force me to regularly watch “Glee,” but they aren’t enough to make the rest of the episodes any less bizarrely half-baked. And with “Glee,” you can always count on the writers to screw things up whenever they threaten to get good. Like how did the story of Santana’s coming out — marvelously acted by Naya Rivera — get drowned in the reprecussion-free hideousness of Finn’s involvement? Remember when Sue Sylvester was a character and not a one-liner generator with more personalities than Tara from Showtime? I don’t. Remember when Darren Criss’ Blaine was likable and not a variably aged extra with strange anger issues who existed only to give Kurt a love life? I don’t. Was Emma ever an appealing character? I don’t recall anymore. And what the heck did Dianna Agron do to make the writers hate her and Quinn so much? With each week, “Glee” has fewer people aggressively defending it and more people shrugging in frustrated resignation.
i know i ranted about Disney a couple of times, but I feel like every time i do it feels fresh to me.
First, let me just talk about that China girl or whatever the spelling of her name. She can not sing at all. Also, she’s trying to be like the new Raven, and she won’t. She will NEVER be Raven. She has none of Raven’s acting skill, humor, and singing ability. Her Disney Parade thing was just absolute crap
Also, wtf is up with the direction Disney is going in? All the movies and tv shows lately feature becoming pop stars and being famous and all that. It’s all about glitz and glam now on Disney and trying to be the next singing sensation. I’m tired of seeing that. That was so 2006-2008, with the High School Musical and Hannah Montana phase. Now it’s getting tiresome. What happened with being regular kids and just living a regular kid life? Now I hear they’re making references to rappers and pop icons and stuff that have nothing to do with Disney.
Their “values” are going down too. In the past, they showed true moral and society values, such as body image, race, family, importance of love in friendship. Now it just seems about “who’s dating who”, “they’re going to that party now we have to too”, “i’m going to be a pop star”, “teen drama”. It’s basically just like Gossip Girl except rated G.
Disney, you need to get your act together and solve this. I HATE watching the new tv shows. I only watch Disney now if it’s a rerun of an old show or a movie is on.
Stop trying to make your ultra thin pop star wannabes into mini Carrie Bradshaws and divas. It’s sickening
